Changes Through the Seasons

Spring is the best time to plant bulbs in the ground or in a pot of dirt.

Bulbs grow up to be flowers Bulbs grow up to be flowers. They grow roots in the soil, then they grow leaves and a stem. Finally, a flower opens on the top of the stem. This flower is a daffodil.

A few daffodils can grow together in a pot, or more bulbs can make a whole field of daffodils!

Leaf buds form on tree branches in the spring Leaf buds form on tree branches in the spring. They start small, then grow bigger.

By summer, the leaf buds grow into big leaves that cover the trees.

When trees are small, they only have a few leaves When trees are small, they only have a few leaves. When they grow big, they have so many leaves you can’t count them all!

In the summer, the leaves are green, but in the fall they turn yellow, orange and red.

When the leaves change color, there are many on each tree When the leaves change color, there are many on each tree. But as the trees get ready for winter, the leaves fall to the ground. Soon there are only a few leaves left on each tree.

In winter it gets cold. If it gets very cold, it might snow In winter it gets cold. If it gets very cold, it might snow. Snowflakes are very small. There are so many snowflakes that you can’t see them all. When you catch snowflakes, each one is different.

After winter, the world is ready for another spring!
