Dressing out You must have a change of clothes daily which includes: * grey or navy t-shirt * grey or navy basketball length shorts (no track/running or cheerleading shorts) NOT Light blue, NOT Black, NOT royal blue * tennis shoes (no slides, flip-flops, heels, boots etc.) P.E. Uniforms will be sold for $20, $10 each. These are not required to purchase from the school just an option, if you are interested. Daily points will be given for dressing out, shoes, shorts and shirts = 5 points. Self-Management points will be given for actively participating each day, making the minimum number of laps, sportsmanship and overall attitude and effort = 5 points.

Illness/Injury Students who are at school are expected to participate in P.E. If you are sick, you should be at home.  We shouldn’t see more notes from home on Block Days. You will participate even if you are not dressed out. If a child needs to be out of P.E. due to injury (strains, sprains, broken bones) or illness (recovering from flu etc.), a parent or guardian can write a note or send an email that day. The child can only be excused from P.E. for two days maximum. Otherwise, the student will need to have a doctor’s note. Our students will be required to dress out even if they aren’t participating. We will have alternative assignments if the student is out of P.E. for an extended amount of time.

Locker rooms Students will be able to use a locker in the locker room ONLY during their required P.E. class period. We have about 100 lockers and 630 students move through those locker rooms each day. In order to secure your belongings, please bring your own lock during your P.E. time. The school cannot be responsible of your clothes or valuables if you do not lock them up. Please don’t bring money or cell phones to the locker rooms or the gym. You may want to write your name on your P.E. clothes so they don’t get mixed up with others or if left in the locker room, we can get them back to you. If the noise is too loud in the locker rooms, we may assign students specific lockers and assign silent dress out.

Expectation and Rules for P.E. Be on time and prepared for class which means dress out clothes and shoes. NO CELL PHONES visible in the gym or locker rooms! Gum, food and candy are not allowed during P.E. in the gym. Students will lose points daily if they have gum. If the student is asked to throw out the gum and choses not to or decides to put another piece in, this will be dealt with by the Administration. Students must get permission to leave the gym for the restroom or water or for any other reason. (Students may use restroom or water fountain during their dress out time at the beginning and/or end of the period without permission) Students will be respectful to all P.E. teachers and their peers including not interrupting the teachers during instruction. Students need to follow correct locker room procedures and instructional time procedures. Behaviors that lead to or cause injury are not allowed and result in an office referral. You will have 3-6 minutes AFTER the tardy bell to get in and out of the locker rooms. Students will be counted tardy if arriving after tardy bell to the back door or after Mr. Hutchins and Ms. Morton leave the locker rooms. Anyone behind them will be considered late to gym therefore late to class. The faster you get dressed, the more playing time you will have! 

Health Concerns Please have your parents send an email to your PE teacher and/or send a note with you letting us know if you have any Health concerns. Examples: allergies to bee stings, asthma/inhaler peanut allergies, heart issues etc. The nurse will notify us if you have turned in any Health concerns information to her. If you have an inhaler, please bring that with you to P.E. especially on cardio days.
