Close Up: History and Mission Non-profit and non-partisan civic education organization founded in 1971. Mission is to inform, inspire, and empower students to become more active citizens. Over 850,000 student and teacher alums. We welcome 20,000 students and teachers to DC each year. 2018 will Harmony School of Political Science and Communication’s second time on Close Up.

The Basics Sunday, June 3, through Friday, June 8, 2018 6 days/5 nights in Washington, DC Focus on current issues, government, and active citizenship Meet students from around the country (AR, GA, AZ, HI, FL, NE, AK, OH, UT, MS, MT) Roughly 250 students expected to attend the week of June 3.

Price and What’s Included Total student price is $1,892, which includes… Airfare from Austin (excluding baggage fees); Academic materials and instruction; Hotel accommodations; Three meals per day starting with dinner on Sunday, ending with lunch on Wednesday; All in-town transportation; 24-hour supervision including night monitors; All admission fees; Tips/Gratuities; Secondary medical coverage and access to Georgetown University Medical Center; Close Up souvenir backpack, water bottle, and group photo Not Included: Airline baggage fees Spending money for extra souvenirs and snacks Meals before dinner on Sunday or after lunch on Wednesday Travel insurance is optional but STRONGLY encouraged

Pricing Basics Total price is $1,892. First $200 non-refundable deposit due by Thursday, October 12 Second $200 non-refundable deposit due by Thursday, November 2 Third $400 non-refundable deposit due by Thursday, February 1 Final payment due by Thursday, April 19, 2018 The first 2 deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable when made. Payments made past 11/2/17 will be refundable aside leading up to 4/19/18.
