2 Purpose of Trip To expose students to the US history covered in Social Studies and English. To bonding as a grade 7 class. Students are not grouped by teams. To provide a growth experience for students who haven’t traveled on their own. We are not grouping the students by team in room assignments or in chaperone groups. The students get to bond as a class rather than as a team. Some students have never traveled on their own before. This is a growing experience for the student to be independent and responsible for him/herself on a trip away from family

3 TRIP COST Each student is $549
Students should bring about $40 in spending money

4 Refund Policy Once your child has registered for the trip and then cancels for any reason, the following will apply: Any time prior to November 10, 2017 – full refund of the $ deposit November 11 through December 7, 2017 – refund of any payment(s) to date less $50 December 8 through December 31, 2017 – refund of any payment(s) to date less $130 January 1 through January 13, 2018 – refund of any payment(s) to date less $230 January 14 through January 25, 2018 – refund of any payment(s) to date less $360 January 26 through March 14, 2018 – No refund For $54 your family can purchase Refund Guarantee Protection which will allow you a full refund less the cost of protection up to the date of departure.

5 TRIP INCLUDES: Round-trip bus transportation to/from Washington D.C.
Exclusive use of tour buses throughout the stay Two nights lodging (4 students per room)

6 TRIP INCLUDES: All meals (2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 3 dinners)
Admission to all sites Security personnel in hotel every night

7 Fundraising Magazine sale helps raise money for all the students participating. 30% Credited towards own trip. Sales must be completed by December 9th, 2017. We encourage students to raise their own money to help with the cost of the trip.

8 College Credit Certificate Can Also Be Earned!!
If your child sells $100 in magazine orders, they will receive a certificate for $1000 off tuition at over 350 colleges, many of which are in the North East If your child sells $250 in magazine orders, they will receive a certificate for $2500 off tuition at these same colleges. 9 RoomMATES Cross-teaming allows students be with their friends.
Four students are in each room. Students choose their roommates in the fall by filling out a roommate card. By signing the card, they agree to room with those listed on the card.

10 MedicationS Consider the medications your child needs during the 3 days. Complete a health form and lists all medications, including over-the-counter medicines. Your child will not participate if these forms are not completed and returned to us.

12 TRIP Highlights Capitol Hill Tour, picture stops
Group picture at the Grant Memorial The Newseum Jefferson Memorial Night tours of selected monuments Arlington National Cemetery Kennedy Gravesite Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Challenger Memorial Talk slowly through these. The Newseum is a new facility and is generally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are fortunate enough to have some connections in Brighton that were able to convince them to open their doors just for us on Tuesday morning before we leave. There are actually three separate itineraries. Each tour will have 2 bus loads of students. The group as a whole will come together at different times during the day. All the same sights will be seen, but in a different order due to the large number of students on the trip.

14 Chaperoning About 20 TCMS staff will chaperone.
Parents may chaperone, but pay full cost ($549)

Deposit of $100 November 1, 2017 Second Payment of $250 December 8, 2017 Final Payment of $199/Health Form Due January 5, 2018

16 IMPORTANT DATES Mandatory Final Parent Meeting
February 27 and 28, 2018 at 7:00 pm in TCMS Auditorium Student and a parent must attend ONE of these meetings before going on the trip.

17 Departure from TCMS Depart on Wednesday check-in at TCMS at 4:00 a.m.
depart Rochester at 4:30 a.m. arrive in Washington, D.C. at 1:30 p.m.

18 Arrival back to TCMS Return home on Friday:
depart Washington, DC at about 2:00 p.m. arrive in Rochester at about 11:00 p.m.
