Cell Organelle Analogies

Organelle Analogies A nucleus is like a principal. A nucleus directs the activities in a cell. A principal directs activities in a school. Work with a partner to come up with another analogy for NUCLEUS

Cytoplasm Cytoplasm is like a floor in the classroom Cytoplasm holds all the organelles inside a cell. A floor holds all the desks, chairs, and people in a classroom. Work with a partner to come up with another analogy for cytoplasm

Mitochondria Work with your partner to come up with an analogy for Mitochondria

Cell analogies Collage You will need a POSTER for this project. You will work with a partner to create both a plant AND an animal cell. Draw your cells in the middle of your poster. ***You may want to draw the cell on a piece of copy paper and then place it in the middle of your poster.

Cell Analogies Collage 4. You must include the following organelles in your cell: (these organelles do not need to be labeled in the cell, that comes later on in the directions!!) cell membrane lysosome cytoplasm Golgi complex nucleus ribosome vacuole endoplasmic reticulum mitochondria centriole cell wall chloroplast

Cell Analogies Collage You can add more than one analogy for an organelle for 2 bonus points each. Label each of your cells “Animal Cell Collage” or “Plant Cell Collage”

Cell Analogies Collage Choose 8 organelles that you have drawn in your cells. Write an analogy for each organelle. EXAMPLE: A nucleus is like a principal. A nucleus directs the activities of all the other organelles. A principal directs the activities of all the teachers and students.

Cell Analogies Collage Around your cell, write your 5 analogies and draw the object you mention in each analogy. Example: I would draw a picture of a principal underneath my nucleus analogy. ***It is okay to use clip art, or pictures cut from magazines for the analogy pictures ONLY. DO NOT PRINT OUT A PICTURE OF A CELL FROM THE INTERNET FOR THE CELL DRAWING!

Cell Analogies Collage Draw an arrow from the correct organelle to your analogy. If they are found in both plant and animal cells, you can use one analogy and draw an arrow from both cells. You can create extra organelle analogies for 2 bonus points each.(more than 8)

Example: Animal Cell Collage Nucleus The nucleus is like a brain because it has all the information and gives all the instructions

Cell Analogies Collage Tape grading rubric on the back of your project . Your names also go on the BACK. DUE DATE IS SEPTEMBER 25!!!
