Pedagogy – White Paper – Version #1

Faculty of Management - Vision “Global thinking that engages leaders in learning for life and gives life to learning”

Faculty of Management – Three Major Components Research Teaching Practice

Role of Teaching & Learning Teaching & Learning are an integral part of the faculty PEP re-affirmed this E3 project aims to provide the necessary infrastructure to support all stakeholders from professor to learner to administrator to alumnus

What constitutes E3?; an overview of initiatives Overall initiatives

E3 Workshops Project description what is it? The E3 workshops introduce a consistent course design methodology that encourages collaboration among professors when designing courses

E3 Workshops Project goals what will it do? Institute a consistent course design methodology throughout the faculty Encourage a more collaborative course design environment within the faculty

E3 Workshops Project status what’s happened? Course Design Methodology Methodology has been refined Workshops have been standardized Workshop Delivery Five series of workshops have been delivered Approximately 25% of faculty have participated in the workshops

E - Learning Project description what is it? As part of the E3 project, the e-learning initiative aims to provide innovative learning strategies in a blended learning environment within the university & executive education. Blended learning The combination of any form of instructional technology (CBT WBT) with a face-to-face instructor led event. Not to say that the instructional technology could not also take place in a classroom. Instructional technology could be a self-study or in-class event. A common blended learning approach is to introduce material in a classroom; provide instruction on basic concepts and practice events (allowing learners to practice knowledge learned) via on-line self-study learning events – followed by follow-up classroom training

E - Learning Project goals what will it do? Support professors to structure out-of class learning Provide students with engaging, on-line self-study tools Provide a unique learning experience employing the use of storylines

E - Learning Project status Matters currently under review: IP policy Effectiveness of blended learning Evaluation of Learning Mgmt Systems in collaboration with the university Proof of concept

Teaching, Learning and the future… Pedagogical Excellence is a factor of: Size issue: Size of Faculty, Size of classes, Size of student body Value Proposition for Professor / Instructor Governance (who decides?) Re-Design of Program (incl. Minors in Management)
