What it is Europe’s version of the U.S. green card It’s a work and residence permit for skilled people who are not in the European Union. It provides comprehensive socio-economic rights and leads to permanent residence in Europe. It was designed to make Europe more attractive to professionals from outside the European Union.

The US Green Card has been around since the 1920s, it will take time before the Blue Card enjoys equal global recognition
