Camp Kaitawa By Mitchell Zyskowski

Now was the time for the Reignier Catholic School Year 6’s had to leave to for Camp Kaitawa on a cold miserable morning. It was a week full of excitement. Very long walks, fun steaming cookouts and fantastic talent and now is the time to get prepared for the best camp ever!

Monday Finally it was the time that we had to get into cars to head for Camp Kaitawa. I didn’t want to leave in this miserable weather but it was then or never for me. I got into the car as we drove off as quickly as we could. Finally we got to Wairoa where we stopped for our packed lunch. Then we drove off again and then we arrived at Camp Kaitawa and had our tour of Camp Kaitawa. When we got back we all went to sleep thinking about what a wonderful day it will be on Tuesday.

Tuesday Hours later we had a cold breakfast and a cooked breakfast like we did most mornings. Straight after that we got our bags packed for the walk like we did every day. But on Tuesday we did the Ngamoko walk. When we started after awhile we reached the rata tree that was about 800-1000 years old and stopped to have morning tea there. Later we finished morning tea and walked almost to the top were we stopped to have lunch . A few minutes later we walked all the way back down and arrived at camp. We all had dinner and saw a movie and got to chose if we wanted to see all of the movie or go to bed. I went about 5 minutes before it finished.

Wednesday On Wednesday we went on a walk to see Michal Noonan's grave. After we saw Michal Noonan's grave we all went in cars to the caves and went caving, that was really fun. Finally we finished caving and got back to camp. When we were at camp we all had showers and Mr Tillard squirted us with the hose if we took too long. After that we had dinner and went to bed.

Thursday On Thursday after getting ready we just went on a 1 hour walk and then went on the loop track. Then we came back to camp, did the obstacle course and after that we did our cookouts for dinner. That was delicious! Then we went to bed all ready for packing up on Friday.

Friday Finally the days went by and it got to Friday. We all packed up and left camp, after a play at the courts. Overall camp was very exciting and very fun. But finally we got back home and saw our parents.
