St. Peter Worship Sunday, July 30, 2017 God Builds His Church into a Mighty Fortress St. Peter Worship Sunday, July 30, 2017

Welcome to St. Peter All are warmly welcomed in Jesus’ name to our worship services this Eighth Sunday after Pentecost. We extend a special welcome to the families of the children of this week’s Vacation Bible School programs. Today’s readings from God’s Word emphasize how the Holy Spirit, through the good news that Jesus is this world’s only Savior from sin, brings people to faith and into a Mighty Fortress that not even Satan and hell can overcome. May the Lord bless your worship!

Prayer Before Worship O Lord – our Maker, Redeemer, and Comforter – we are assembled in your presence to hear your holy Word. We pray that you would open our hearts by your Holy Spirit, so that through the preaching of your Word we may repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and grow day by day in grace and holiness. Hear us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

OUR COMMUNION PRACTICE In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, Jesus gives us his true body and blood. We express unity with our Savior and those who share our faith and stand on the teachings of God’s Word. Therefore, we invite to our altar those who are members of our church or the WELS. Visitors and guests who wish to commune are asked to speak to a pastor before the service begins.

Welcome to St. Peter! There are friendship registers at the end of each row. Please take a moment to give us your information so we have a record of your time with us today.

For Our Guests If you have questions, let us try to help. Speak with an usher, greeter, or the person next to you. If you’d like to learn more about St. Peter and it’s ministry, please talk to a pastor or member after the service.
