2 Review of Re-Baptism

1. John’s Baptism 1 Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, 2 “ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” - Matthew 3:1-2

For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, “ THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘ MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT!’” - Matthew 3:3

Now John himself had a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. - Matthew 3:4

5 Then Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea and all the district around the Jordan; 6 and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins. - Matthew 3:5-6

2. Jesus Received This Baptism 13 Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” - Matthew 3:13-14

But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. - Matthew 3:15

3. John’s Disciples Become Jesus’ Disciples 35 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” - John 1:35-36

The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. - John 1:37

4. Jesus Preached John’s Message From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” - Matthew 4:17

5. Apostles Preached Jesus’ Baptism 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “ All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, - Matthew 28:18-19

15 And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. - Mark 16:15-16

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. - Romans 8:9

10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. - Romans 8:10-11
