POD Stations A list of Medication Dispensers and Medication Dispenser Assistants at each station will be maintained by the Administrative Representative. Let the Administrative Representative know if you change stations. Each station will have one Medication Dispenser and 2-3 Medication Dispenser Assistants.

Screening Process Familiarize yourself with NAPH form and dispensing Algorithms and ask the Head Screener if you have any questions. Clients who have all persons on their NAPH/consent form receiving the adult dose of the primary medication should go to Express Dispensing Line. People who have children that need a different dose, or have contraindications to the primary medicine, or have medical questions you cannot answer should go to the Regular Dispensing Line. Tell people which line to go to and write “Express” or “Regular” in the top right corner of the NAPH/consent form and initial.

Dispensing Process Go over package insert Go over dispensing algorithm. Explain what doses to dispense Go over pediatric crushing instructions if solution is not at POD Go over alternate medications. Go over contraindications, allergies, and drug interactions Review consent form and how to properly fill out

Medication Dispensing Paperwork Instruct how to complete administrative portion of NAPH/consent forms and what information needs to be on the form. The drug name, strength, NDC code, and lot number must be included on the consent form for patient records. Write the station number in the bottom left hand corner of the consent form. Give each client an evaluation form to complete about their experience at the POD to help improve future planning.

Filling out a Prescription Label Instruct and demonstrate the Dispensing Assistants on how to fill out the prescription labels. The following must be included: Drug Name, Strength and quantity Directions for use Name and Address of the dispensing location Serial number of the prescription Name of the prescriber Date prescribed Client name Client phone number for follow-up

What the cards mean: Raise Green Card: if you are ready to help the next client Raise Yellow Card: if you have a medical question or issue for the Medical Lead or a Medical Lead Assistant Raise White Card: if you have a non-medical question or issue for command staff Raise Blue Card: if you need more medication Raise Red Card: if you need more non medical supplies

First Aid Medication should be dispensed to people visiting the First Aid Station Go over First Aid Log and how to fill it out Identify area hospitals accepting patients presenting symptoms as well as other emergencies

Inventory Tracking A Medication Tracking Chart will be kept by the POD Supply Supervisor for each POD. This will keep record of Medications being delivered to and from the POD. A Medication Runner’s Log Sheet will be used by each Medication Runner to keep track of how much medication is being delivered and returned from each station. These amounts will be cross checked with the Medication Dispenser’s Log Sheet at each station. A Medication Dispenser's Log Sheet will be used at each station to keep record of how much medication is being administered at the station as well as any medications that need to be discarded or are unusable.

Mental Health Go over Unaccompanied Minor Policy and form Depending on how many Mental Health Counselors are available, it may be most effective to spread them out in different stations throughout the POD such as After Care, Registration, and as Line Staff. Check on the mental health and well being of staff and volunteers and recommend breaks to those who seem particularly stressed out or worn out.

Job Action Sheets At this time, read and understand your duties and responsibilities as discussed in your assigned job action sheet. Please hold your questions until everyone in our group is ready to participate and listen.
