Vaccination POD Just-in-Time Training

A list of Vaccinators and Vaccinator Assistants at each station will be maintained by the Administrative Representative. Let the Administrative Representative know if you change stations Each station will have one Vaccinator and Vaccinator Assistant.

Go over package insert Explain what doses to administer to adults, infants, and children Go over alternate treatments if applicable Go over contraindications, allergies, and drug interactions Go over consent form and how to properly fill it out Explain and demonstrate proper way to administer vaccine All syringes and needles must be handled safely and disposed of in the Sharps containers at each station Answer any questions.

It is the responsibility of the vaccinator to make sure that the consent form is properly filled out and signed. If contraindications exist, such as allergies or drug interactions, the person should consult with their physician prior to receiving the vaccine. If you are unsure or have questions, raise your yellow card and the Medical Lead will come to your station and assist. You must make sure everyone has received the Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) sheet and is given chance to read prior to administering the vaccine.

Instruct how to complete administrative portion of consent forms and what information needs to be on the form. We need to record the following: Date Address of the facility Injection site (i.e. Right arm, left leg, etc.) Dose administered Manufacturer Lot number Signature of person administering vaccine

Write the station number in the bottom left hand corner of the consent form Fill out administrative portion of consent forms Fill out a vaccination record card for each person receiving vaccine and give it to them for their medical records Give each client an evaluation form to complete about their experience at the POD to help improve future planning

Vaccine must be stored at the temperature listed on the package insert If the vaccine at your station has been out of temperature longer than 45 minutes, raise your blue card and have the runner exchange it. The empty vaccine vials shall be discarded into sharps containers on the tables at the station

Observe clients for adverse reactions. Epinephrine should be administered in the rare case that a patient goes into for anaphylactic shock after the vaccine. Epinephrine shall be located at or near every station. Locate the epinephrine nearest to your table. Take a moment to read the epinephrine package insert and go over the proper way to administer it according to the standing orders. All adverse reactions must be documented and reported using VAERS forms

Vaccinations should be given to people visiting the First Aid Station Go over First Aid Log and how to fill it out Go over area hospitals accepting patients presenting symptoms as well as other emergencies

Raise Green Card: if you are ready to help the next client Raise Yellow Card: if you have a medical question or issue for the Medical Lead or a Medical Lead Assistant Raise White Card: if you have a non-medical question or issue for Command Staff. Raise Blue Card: if you need more vaccine Raise Red Card: if you need more supplies

A Vaccine Tracking Chart will be kept by the POD Supply Lead. This will keep record of vaccine being delivered to and taken from the POD. A Vaccine Runner’s Log Sheet will be used by each Vaccine Runner to keep track of how much medication is being delivered and returned from each station. These amounts will be cross checked with the Vaccinator’s Log Sheet at each station. A Vaccinator's Log Sheet will be used at each station to keep record of how much vaccine is being administered at the station and any vaccines that require discarding.

Vaccination Record Card VIS (Vaccine Information Statement) Hotline number to call if they have questions once they leave the POD

Go over Unaccompanied Minor Policy and form. Depending on how many Mental Health Counselors are available, it may be most effective to spread them out in different stations throughout the POD such as After Care Registration, and as Line Staff. Check on the mental health and well being of staff and volunteers and recommend breaks to those who seem particularly stressed out or worn out.

At this time, read and understand your duties and responsibilities as discussed in your assigned job action sheet. Please hold your questions until everyone in our group is ready to participate and listen.
