Admission PEO's Engineering Intern (EIT) program provides guidance and assistance to engineering graduates as they acquire work experience, including annual reviews of experience to ensure that an applicant is “on the right track” for licensing. If you are already a P.Eng. in another Canadian engineering association/order, a national mobility agreement between all the provinces and territories allows you to move without having to repeat the entire licensing process. http://www.peo.on.ca/index.php/ci_id/2057/la_id/1.htm

Admission You don’t have to be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant to apply New immigrants can start application before they arrive. Newcomers to Canada and Canadian engineering graduates may apply for their Ontario engineering licence at no cost through PEO's Financial Credit Program. http://www.peo.on.ca/index.php/ci_id/2057/la_id/1.htm

Types of licence Full (P.Eng.) Temporary (Licensed in another province/territory) Provisional (meets all requirements except 12 months of Canadian experience under a P.Eng.) Limited (Competence in a certain area of professional engineering) And NEW Licensed Engineering Technologist (LET)

Types of licence EIT (Engineering Intern, or “Engineer in Training” program) NEW – can officially use the EIT designation and engineering intern title Only P.Eng. are members of the provincial association.

Organizational licensing Must have a “Certificate of Authorization” Higher standard of experience for C of A than for P.Eng. Must have liability insurance Or explicitly inform each customer of no insurance, and get their written acceptance of this.

Organizational licensing Note – if you work for a company, but provide engineering services “on the side” (“Moonlighting”) You typically require a C of A for the activities on the side.
