Early High School Graduation Montgomery County High School Early Graduation Plan – 2016-2017 Introduction The Early Graduation statute and regulation are the result of Senate Bill 61, Senate Bill 97, and 704 KAR 3:305 (2013). Through this legislation, the Kentucky General Assembly provides a pathway to early graduation for students who wish to complete high school in three academic years or less. Students who complete the Early Graduation requirements outlined below may receive their diploma from Montgomery County High School. Additionally, students who graduate in three years or less are also eligible for an Early Graduation Certificate, which they may use immediately following high school graduation when enrolling in a SACS accredited Kentucky two-year or four-year institute of higher education.
Early High School graduation Requirements The requirements for Early Graduation are as follows: Candidates must have been in high school three years or less according to COHORT YEAR, not grade level. Candidates must meet the proficiency benchmarks on Kentucky required end-of- course exams (EOC’s). Those classes are Algebra II, Biology, English II, and United States History. Candidates must meet the Council of Post-Secondary Education’s (CPE) defined college readiness benchmarks on the American College Test (ACT). These benchmarks for the ACT are 18 for English, 20 for Reading, and 19 for Mathematics. ONLY the ACT will fulfill requirements for Early Graduation.
