Objetivos: Vamos a … practicar el vocabulario de la tele, los verbos como gustar, y “acabar de” leer (hoja) planear y hablar (¡un debate!)

Verbs like gustar Pattern: We use gustar to mean “to like,” but it literally means “to please.” Me gustan los programas deportivos. Sports programs are pleasing to me. Programas deportivos is the subject of the sentence; me is the direct object. Pattern: indirect object + form of gustar + subject

The subject in a sentence with gustar usually comes after gustar -- need to know whether the subject is singular or plural in order to know which form of gustar to use. use gusta for singular subjects & activities use gustan for plural subjects To emphasize who is pleased, add “A” + pronoun A mí me gustan los dibujos animados, pero a él no le gustan.

Other verbs like gustar: aburrir (to bore) Me aburren las películas de ciencia ficción. doler (to hurt) Me duele la cabeza. / Me duelen los pies. encantar (to love / to delight) Me encanta la pizza. / Me encantan los dramas. faltar (to be missing/to lack) Me falta un tenedor. importar (to be important) Me importan las clases. interesar (to interest) Me interesan los programs policíacas. All use a similar construction: indirect object pronoun + verb + subject

Acabar de + Infinitive To say that something just happened, you use the present tense of acabar de followed by an infinitive Acabo de ver una película de ciencia ficción. I just saw a science fiction movie. Acabamos de hablar de programas de la tele. We just talked about TV shows. Although these actions took place in the past, the present-tense of acabar is used.

El debate Las personas deben mirar la tele. Escriban 4 or 5 oraciones para defender su opinión.
