DS200 EEPROM PROGRAMMING

PURPOSE The purpose of this presentation is to explain the basic parameters of EEPROM programming of different cards of DS200.

PURPOSE The EEPROM table of cards contain many parameters. Most of them are very specific parameters that must be set as per the network, for one-time only, during installation.

PURPOSE

PURPOSE This presentation covers only the parameters that have frequent use in daily applications. If required, the information on remaining items can be obtained from Karel. IDEA guide has a section for EEPROM parameters. That section gives brief information about all of these parameters. When new EEPROM parameters are added, this section is also updated in the soonest occasion.

EEPROM parameters are different for each of the following card types: INTERFACES EEPROM parameters are different for each of the following card types: Analog extensions ISDN/Digital extensions Analog lines PRI lines BRI lines R2 lines TWT lines E&M lines

METHOD Double-click on the card on IDEA EEPROM programming menu. Then enter the new parameter value to hexadecimal value, or Cadence tab, or Details tab. Activate the parameter change by programming.

First select the card by left-clicking.Then double click the card. METHOD First select the card by left-clicking.Then double click the card.

METHOD – HEXADECIMAL TABLE

METHOD - CADENCE

METHOD - DETAILS

METHOD As the final step, right-click on the card and use “Refresh EEPROM” to activate the new settings.

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR EXTENSIONS

Orange rows program the tones they hear. EXTENSIONS - CADENCE Orange rows program the tones they hear. Pink rows program their ring cadences.

EXTENSIONS - CADENCE When busy port is called, the tone is 0. 5 sec ON, 0.5 sec OFF, 1.4 sec ON When there is incoming internal call, the telephone rings 0.6 sec ON, 0.3 sec OFF, 0,6 sec ON, 3 sec OFF, 1 sec ON

Minimum disconnect duration for on-hook (as flash enabled): EXTENSIONS - DETAILS Minimum disconnect duration for on-hook (as flash enabled): The telephone is set to “idle”, only if handset is put down longer than this duration. If the handset is put down shorter than this duration, it is considered as flash. A sample complaint: “ I put the handset down and use it again after some time. But my first call is still there. I cannot start to a new call.” Possible Reason: This duration is too short. Possible Remedy: Increase this duration.

Minimum flash duration: EXTENSION - DETAILS Minimum flash duration: The call can be put on hold if the handset is put down longer than this duration. A sample complaint: “ I cannot put my call on hold using hook-flash or Flash key. Nothing happens.” Possible Reason: This duration is too high. Possible Remedy: Decrease this duration.

Max. – min. DP break durations: EXTENSION - DETAILS Max. – min. DP break durations: The detectable range of DP break signals can be programmed with these parameters. Notes: The duration of hook flash must be bigger than max. DP break duration. Otherwise, hook flash will be recognized as duration between DP digits. If the min. DP break duration is too short, then very small disconnections will be recognized as duration between DP digits as well.

Max. – min. DP make durations: EXTENSION - DETAILS Max. – min. DP make durations: The detectable duration range of DP make signals can be programmed with these parameters.

Minimum Inter-digit time-out for DP dialing : EXTENSION - DETAILS Minimum Inter-digit time-out for DP dialing : The minimum detectable duration between the DP digits dialed by extensions can be programmed with this parameter.

Minimum disconnect duration for on-hook (as Flash disabled): EXTENSION - DETAILS Minimum disconnect duration for on-hook (as Flash disabled): The telephone is set to “idle”, only if handset is put down longer than this duration. If the handset is put down shorter than this duration, no operation will be taken.

Tone connection time after going off-hook: EXTENSION – DETAILS Tone connection time after going off-hook: Telephone’s handset use is recognized, only if handset is lifted longer than this duration. Notes: If this value is too short, when the hook switch is turned on and off for very short time intervals unintentionally, the system may interpret such intervals as dialed DP digits.

Minimum off hook duration during ringing to connect the call: EXTENSION - DETAILS Minimum off hook duration during ringing to connect the call: When there is an incoming call, the system considers this call as answered only if the extension lifts his handset longer than this duration. Notes: If this value is too short, when the hook switch is turned on and off for very short time intervals unintentionally, the system may interpret such calls as answered. If this value is too short, there is also a chance that extension’s handset lift will not be interpreted as call answering and the ring will continue. Then, you might need to increase this duration. This parameter can be programmed to take different values for each extension.

Charging Method: (Only for EX200 (0/16R) cards) EXTENSION - DETAILS Charging Method: (Only for EX200 (0/16R) cards) The card’s charging method can be programmed as : Metering pulse generation Polarity reversal

CallerID transmission type: (Only for EX200 (0/16R) cards) EXTENSION - DETAILS CallerID transmission type: (Only for EX200 (0/16R) cards) The format of Caller ID information produced to the extensions can be programmed as: FSK DTMF

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR ANALOG LINES

ANALOG LINES - CADENCE Orange rows program the tones heard by external callers on ACD / DISA lines.

ANALOG LINES - CADENCE When the called extension is ringing, the caller hears the tone as 0.5 sec ON, 3 sec OFF, 3.5 sec ON, 0.3 sec OFF

Minimum ring off duration to release the line: ANALOG LINES - DETAILS Minimum ring off duration to release the line: The system detects the signals as ring only if these signals have longer duration than defined value. A sample complaint: “ The system behaves as if there is an incoming call, but when the operator answers the call there is no one”. Possible Reason: This duration is too short. Possible Remedy: Increase this duration.

Current Detection On Line: ANALOG LINES - DETAILS Current Detection On Line: When activated, the system checks dial tone on the lines. If there is no dial tone, the system prevents access to that line. Notes: Can be used as automatic dial tone check on the lines.

Polarity Reversal Detection: ANALOG LINES - DETAILS Polarity Reversal Detection: When activated, the card can detect the polarity reversal activated by the service providers. Those reversals are used to determine the start – end times of the call.

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR PRI LINES

Q.SIG Mode: PRI LINES - DETAILS If PRI is connected to a router or to another PABX and if Q.SIG features are required, Q.SIG mode must be selected. Otherwise, PTT mode can be selected. Notes: When Q.SIG mode is used, deactivate “Collect Digits” EEPROM setting.

Collect Digits: PRI LINES - DETAILS If “Yes” is selected then N-Block dialing is used, otherwise overlap dialing is used. Notes: When Q.SIG mode is used, must be deactivated. When activated, the digits dialed are sent to the line as per the value of EEPROM setting “Dialed Digit Control”.

PRI LINES - DETAILS Dialed Digit Control: This is taken into account when “Collect Digits” setting is deactivated. “Wait 4 sec”: If there is a delay of 4 seconds between two consecutive digits of the dialed number, then the digits dialed so far are transmitted. “Count digits”: The extensions are expected to dial the required number of digits. The digits can be transmitted only after then. Notes: When “Count digits” is used, the parameters “local / long distance number digit number” are considered.

PRI LINES - DETAILS Collect digits active? Numbers are sent directly to line, end of dialing is not determined by DS200. It depends on when proceeding message is received from the line No Yes Required number of digits dialled ? Dialled digit control (*) Numbers are not sent. Count digits No Wait 4 sec. Yes Numbers are sent in SETUP if waited more than 4 second. (This duration is also programmable.) Whole numbers are sent in SETUP (N-block) (*): When SECO (sending complete) is activated by entering value 0 at column 01 of row 21, the PRI card can send an indication SENDINGCOMPLETE that number dialing has finished in SETUP message.

PRI LINES - DETAILS Other settings may be required depending on the network. Those settings can be given by Karel, after inspection of log files with the codes: 800970_PRI card slot no_53 800970_PRI card slot no_61

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR R2 / TWT LINES

Inter-register Signaling Mode: (For R2 lines only) R2 / TWT LINES - DETAILS Inter-register Signaling Mode: (For R2 lines only) Depending on the signaling on the connected network, this parameter must be set as R2 or DTMF.

Local Number Digit Number: R2 / TWT LINES - DETAILS Local Number Digit Number: The number of digits of the dialed external number (for local calls) must be entered here. Long Distance Number Digit Number: number (for long distance calls) must be entered here. Notes: If the extensions fail to dial the correct number of digits, the calls are not established.

Received Called Party Number: R2 / TWT LINES - DETAILS Received Called Party Number: The maximum number of digits that must be dialed by external callers to reach the system through R2 lines must be entered here.

Gain Levels: (For TWT lines only) R2 / TWT LINES - DETAILS Gain Levels: (For TWT lines only) The receive / transmit gain levels must be specified if DTMF mode signaling is used.

R2 / TWT LINES - DETAILS Other settings may be required depending on the network. Those settings can be given by Karel, after inspection of log files with the codes: 800970_R2/TWT card slot no_53 800970_R2/TWT card slot no_61

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR BRI LINES

BRI LINES - DETAILS EEPROM programming is not very common for BRI lines. When required due to network, the settings can be given by Karel, after inspection of log files with the codes: 800970_BRI card slot no_53 800970_BRI card slot no_61

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR E&M LINES

E&M LINES - HEXADECIMAL TABLE Mode: The signaling for each line must be adjusted as per the connected network. This is made in hexadecimal table, columns 5, 6, 7 and 8 in row 21.

E&M LINES - HEXADECIMAL TABLE The binary equivalent of hexadecimal value in these columns can be coded as follows: Lower 4 bits: signaling for outgoing calls Higher 4 bits: signaling for incoming calls The decimal values for signaling types are: 0: wink start 1: delayed start 2: immediate start 3: Continuous seizure ack

E&M LINES - HEXADECIMAL TABLE Example: 32, 00, 00 and 00 are entered at columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. First line signaling at column 5: hex 32 = binary 00110010 higher 4 bits (0011) = 3 lower 4 bits (0010) = 2 Continuous seizure ack is used for incoming calls, immediate start signaling is used for outgoing calls. Other lines at column 6, 7, and 8: They have wink start signaling for incoming & outgoing calls.

Other settings may be required depending on E&M LINES - DETAILS Other settings may be required depending on the network. Those settings can be given by Karel, after inspection of log files with EPROM setting “Monitor” activated.

EEPROM PARAMETERS FOR ISDN/DIGITAL EXTENSIONS

ISDN/DIGITAL EXTENSIONS - DETAILS Language: The language of the messages that appear on telephones can be selected as English – Turkish. Those messages appear when: Dialed digits do not exist in the numbering plan of the system, MSN number definition of the telephone is not correct, Dialed digits are accepted as a valid feature activation code of the system.
