Compounds

Compounds Compounds are made from two or more elements, which chemically react together to form new substances. Know that atoms cannot be created or destroyed in a reaction. Understand that atoms only rearranged.

What elements are in….? Iron Sulphide Magnesium Oxide Copper Chloride Lead Fluoride Carbon Monoxide Carbon Dioxide Sulphur Dioxide Carbon Tetrafluoride Iron Sulphur Magnesium Oxygen Copper Chlorine Lead Fluorine Carbon Oxygen Carbon Oxygen Sulphur Oxygen Carbon Fluorine

To start Name the elements in these compounds Potassium oxide Sodium chloride Magnesium oxide Copper fluoride Potassium hydroxide Calcium sulphate Potassium + Oxygen Sodium + chlorine Magnesium + Oxygen Copper + Fluorine Potassium, hydrogen and Oxygen Calcium, Sulphur and Oxygen

Formulae Al2O3 MgO AgNO3 Ca(OH)2 Total = 2 elements Total = 2 elements 2 atoms 3 atoms 1 atom 1 atom Total = 5 atoms in the compound Total = 2 atoms in the compound Total = 3 elements Total = 3 elements 1 atom 3 atoms 1 atom 1 atom 2 atoms 2 atoms Total = 5 atoms in the compound Total = 5 atoms in the compound
