Just Playing…

Recording Your Child’s Learning Every child has their own learning journey where we include observations we have made of children’s learning, examples of their independent work and parental contributions. We also use an online programme called ‘Tapestry’ where we will make observations and record children’s progress. As the year progresses children will become more independent and record their own work in books.

School Uniform and PE Kits – on sale tonight You will find a detailed list of uniform and P.E. Kit in your school pack this evening, but key points are: EVERYTHING must be named P.E kit bags are brought to school on Monday and stay in school until Friday. It is an H&S requirement to remove earrings for P.E. activities – please remove at home if possible. Long hair must be tied back also.

Daily Routines: Your child should come into school at 8.45am. We encourage parents to come into the cloakroom and help children organise their belongings. Ideally children should then enter the classroom independently and settle ready to start the day. Your child is collected at 3.10pm. A form inside the induction pack requests details of those authorised to collect your child.

The Cloakroom Every child will have their own peg where they will keep their book bags, coats, PE kits. All children will need a pair of wellington boots (kept underneath the bench) and a raincoat as we enjoy learning outside whatever the weather!

Food in School Lunches: Snacks: School lunch details are included in the school pack. Children eat lunch together in our main hall from 11.45am. Snacks: Children put their labelled water bottle in the trays in the playground and their labelled snack into the snack box, before they come into the cloakroom. Each child is entitled to a piece of fresh fruit, which we tend to offer during morning playtime. Up until their 5th birthday, children are entitled to milk each day. Details of how to register are in the school pack.

Parents as Partners Throughout the year there are opportunities to come into school and see what your child has been learning. These take form in open mornings (share a book Friday), open curriculum afternoons (at the end of every half-term) and family open mornings each term (mums to school). If any adults want to volunteer to help out with reading, gardening, cooking or just general help in the classroom, then please get in touch as we would love to have you. ‘Wow’ moments for children to share praise or success from home. School website and our weekly ‘Red Hill Review.’

Pupil Admission Form Please complete this form and return it to Mrs Sheen in our school office before Friday 30th June. School lunches Each child in Reception is entitled to school lunch from this September but you must advise us that your child requires this. We prefer termly or weekly notice but it can be done in the morning as your child registers. Please ensure that if you are entitled to Free School Meals, even for a short time, that you apply for them; if not the children lose valuable educational funding.

Arrangements for Starting School We have decided that all children will start full time from Tuesday 29th August. We made this decision in recognition of the time that most children now attend pre-school or nursery for. If for any reason you would like to discuss this with a member of staff, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Pre-School and After-School Club Pre-School club runs from 7.45 am – 8.45am. After-School club runs from 3.15pm – 5.45pm. Please speak to Mrs Sheen.

Thank You!
