Welcome to Day 2

Day 2: Putting humanitarian principles into practice   Aim: To develop the skills required to put humanitarian principles into practice, with a focus on ensuring disaster- and conflict-affected communities are kept at the centre of our response

Session 1.2.1: Objectives Learning objectives At the end of this session, participants will be able to: Describe principles for humanitarian action and what they mean in their context Explain the role of a leader in ensuring humanitarian action adheres to these principles

Our Humanitarian Imperative All possible steps should be taken to alleviate human suffering that arises out of conflict and calamity Those affected by a disaster have a right to life with dignity and therefore a right to assistance

Humanitarian Charter The right to life with dignity The right to protection and security The right to receive humanitarian assistance
