Tai Ping Sustainability

Introduction Tai Ping takes its role as a member of the global business community very seriously. We adhere to the highest internationally recognized standards and strive continually to improve our facilities to minimise environmental impact in all our activities. Tai Ping is a proud participant in the International Organization for Standardization, a not-for-profit organization that establishes environmental and quality standards for industrial processes to safeguard workers, consumers and the planet.

Tai Ping Towards Sustainability Tai Ping: Towards Sustainability is an ongoing initiative. We began putting sustainability measures in place some years ago, and are constantly tracking our progress, improving our practices, and investigating new ones. We define sustainability in terms of the health and future of the natural environment in which we operate, the viability of our marketplace, as well as the safety, well-being, and fulfillment of our employees and associates. Tai Ping: Towards Sustainability pursues a strategy that satisfies current needs without compromising the outlook for the future. Tai Ping is committed to the goal of achieving total sustainability and we are working conscientiously at every level to achieve it, from material sourcing and manufacturing to design and installation.

International Standard Certifications ISO 9001 Tai Ping is certified in ISO 9001, which ensures that our quality management programs meet globally established regulatory standards. But this is just a starting point. We strive to exceed customer expectations and are committed to ongoing performance improvements at every point along the way, from original design concept to after-sales servicing. ------ Thailand & China factories ISO 14001 Tai Ping is certified in ISO 14001, our environmental management programs meet globally recognized standards. We are committed to minimizing environmental impact at every stage of production. ------ Thailand & China factories OHSAS 18001 Tai Ping is certified in OHSAS 18001. We are committed to control and improve health and safety of our employees. ------ Thailand & China factories ISO 50001 Tai Ping is certified in ISO 50001 – Energy management. We are committed to continually improve energy performance and greenhouse gas emissions. ------ Thailand factory

Product Certification Tai Ping supports the independent, third-party product verification process. While we do not disparage first party claims, we recognise that our customers need and appreciate manufacturers who participate in independent vetting processes guided by national and international standards. Our products have achieved the Carpet and Rug Institute's Green Label Plus certification. Tai Ping was the first producer of woven and hand-made carpets to achieve accreditation under the NSF 140 certification process, the first multi-attribute sustainability standard in the building industry that touches every aspect of the triple bottom line and accounts for impacts throughout the supply chain. Programs are in place throughout all our Thailand factory that consistently measure usage of water and energy, emissions and waste per square meter of carpet produced. This enables us to manage the reduction of both consumption and waste on a continuous basis.

NSF/ANSI 140 NSF/ANSI 140 Sustainability Assessment for Carpet is the industry-leading standard for sustainability evaluation and certification of carpet products across their entire life cycle. The most recognised "stamp of approval" in the industry with respect to "green" operations, the NSF/ANSI 140-2007 Sustainable Carpet Assessment was the first American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-approved measure for environmentally favorable building products. NSF-140 accounts for every stage in the production and distribution processes, from the use of recycled materials, to factory emissions, to the quality of the working environment. In addition to the outstanding design, quality, and service for which it is already known, this rating makes Tai Ping products a contributor to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, a credential to which many projects aspire. The first producer of woven and hand-made products to achieve accreditation, Tai Ping remains one of very few carpet companies to have been certified by NSF. Products have qualified comply to NSF/ANSI 140 1. Nylon Broadloom Carpet 2. Wool Broadloom Carpet 3. Wool Machine Tufted Cushion Backed Tile 4. Wool Cushion Back Carpet tile 5. Nylon Machine Tufted Cushion Back Tile Tai Ping continues to work closely with NSF as part of its global sustainability initiative, our next goal is to obtain this certification for our factory in China by 2015. ---- Thailand factory

Green Label Plus The higher standard for indoor air quality Green Label Plus is an independent testing program that identifies carpet with very low emissions of VOCs (13 chemicals). GLP can help to earn LEED or Green Guide for Health Care points. In order to earn and maintain Green Label Plus certifications, carpet must undergo a three-tier testing process (Initial test, Quarterly testing and Annual testing) to monitor continued compliance with the test program requirements. CE-Mark CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the essential requirements of the relevant European health, safety and environmental protection legislation. CE marking gives companies easier access into the European market to sell their products without adaptation or rechecking. Products complying to CE-Mark (since 2006) include Axminster, Machine Tufted, Hand Tufted, Machine Tufted Carpet tile, EcoSoft tile, etc. ---- Thailand & China factories

IMO Certification IMO - the International Maritime Organization - is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships. Member Governments use IMO to draw up internationally agreed standards that can be applied to all ships. Products of Tai Ping have been certified Wheel Mark by low flammable, low smoke, and less toxic gas. Safety to use on the ships. 0575/15 Products qualified under standard IMO FTPC 1. 100% Wool Broadloom Machine Tufted 2. 80% Wool / 20% Nylon Axminster 3. 100% Wool Hand Tufted --- Thailand & China factories

We address the problem of pollution directly, using up-to-date technologies to ensure that our manufacturing facilities are efficient, safe and environmentally benevolent. ---- Thailand factory

Package dyeing compared to traditional Hank Dye Resource & Energy Conservation Green Technology: Package Dyeing Our most recent environmental investment is in Package Dyeing Systems. This technology has substantially reduced environment footprints; water, energy and chemicals while supporting improvement in colour-matching and quality. The system is planned in our Thai and new Chinese factories.   Package dyeing compared to traditional Hank Dye Average water usage per kg yarn 66% lower Average steam usage per kg yarn 70% lower Average electricity usage per kg yarn 44% lower ------ China factory

Sustainable factories 2016 will see the opening of a new Tai Ping facility in Xiamen, Fujian province. Producing Artisan products, the factory will embrace “green technologies” and is designed to deliver: Minimum energy performance Maximum use of natural ventilation Maximum use of natural day light “Best in class” water efficiency Maximum open-space
