Facts about Russia Russia’s capital is Moscow Russia is the Largest Country in the World at 6,592,800 square miles. It stretches over Europe and Asia and it passes through 10 time zones.

Russia’s Culture Russia has over 100 different languages spoken today. The most common language is Tartar. The main religion in Russia is Russian Orthodox.

Russian History Some of Russia’s most famous rulers where Catherine the Great Empress of Russia, Vladimir Lenin communist leader, Ivan the Terrible dictator , and present day Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Russian History (continued) Space Russia was the first country to put a satellite (Sputnik 1) in orbit. It was also the first country to put a human in orbit.

Russian History (Continued) Communist Days It was established in 1922 by Vladimir Lenin. After Lenin died in 1924 a man named Stalin took control of Russia. Stalin made Russians feel like slaves or captives by his strict laws. During communism religion was outlawed and Russia had only two TV channels.

Russian Geography Russia also borders the Arctic Ocean. Russia borders the Black Sea The Ural mountains cover 2,500 miles of eastern Russia.
