Before you get started Checklist Check out college websites, publications and tours. Research program admission requirements Take a look at the online "Program" at ontariocolleges.ca Choose the college that best fits you! Determine the program(s) you would like to apply to. Do your research and visit at least 3 colleges. You will receive a handout with some of the steps and reminders from this presentation. This handout is also your proof of attendance when you go back to class.

Important dates May 1 February 1 May 1 June 15 Equal consideration date (all applications received at OCAS by this date will be considered equally by the colleges). Early February Earliest you may receive offers May 1 By this date, applicants must confirm their acceptance of an offer of admission. For all competitive programs (i.e. Nursing, paramedic, dental hygiene, etc.) Feb 1st is an absolute deadline. You can look at the program charts online to find out if your program is competitive -If you are ready and have done the research- apply before January 15 and your name will be entered in a draw to win up to $2000. June 15 Earliest date that the colleges can require payment of tuition fees.

Did you know? The $95 application fee is non-refundable. You can make 5 program choices, with no more than 3 choices at any one college. Do not apply for more than 3 programs per college-colleges want to see that you are focussing on a program not a college.

Who does what? OCAS: Processes applications and confirmations (acceptances), and forwards information to the colleges. HIGH SCHOOL: Provides ontariocolleges.ca with your personal and academic information. YOU DO NOT SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT – WE SUBMIT YOU MARKS! YOU: Apply to college through ontariocolleges.ca. Pay the application fee of $95. Confirm acceptance of an offer through ontariocolleges.ca Go to college!

Create an Account Go ontariocolleges.ca NEW USERS: RETURNING USERS: If you’ve never applied through ontariocolleges.ca before, click APPLY. RETURNING USERS: If you have an existing account, click LOG IN.

Create an Account Fill in this information carefully. You can only make changes to your first name, last name and date of birth by contacting ontariocolleges.ca. Please provide a valid email address. ontariocolleges.ca and the colleges will use it to communicate important information about your application.

Activate Your Account An account activation email will be sent to the email address you entered when you created your account. Click the link in the email to activate your account.

Log in to Your Account Log in using the username (your email address) and password you created during account sign up. Forgot your username or password? Click the link to recover them.

Applicant Dashboard - My Profile A checkmark will appear once each section is completed. All sections must be completed in order when you fill out y(even if they don’t apply to you) our information for the first time. Click Save and Continue to continue to the next step.

Authorized Users AUTHORIZED USERS Authorize another individual access to your account / application Maximum of 3 individuals at one time Authorization can be added, changed or revoked at any time All actions made by authorized individuals appear in Activity History Access does not extend to your file at the college(s) If you do not wish to give anyone permission to access to your account, click No Authorized Users to Add.

- Add High School Education Ontario high school students: Begin typing your school name and select it from the list. All Applicants: Enter the date you started high school. Graduates / Former Students: Enter the date you completed / left high school. *Current Students: Click the radio button.

- Add High School Education Current Ontario High School Students Only: Most high schools automatically forward your grades to ontariocolleges.ca. To allow us to match your grades to your application, your OEN number, Student Number and name (as it appears on your school record) must be accurate. Click Save when done.

Education - Summary ONTARIO HIGH SCHOOL GRADES Grades will be listed in the Academic Data on File section. It’s recommended that current students check their grades several times during the school year. (e.g. After mid-term and final marks for semester 1 and 2.) Any errors should be reported to your guidance counselor.

My Applications Click the button with the start date you wish to apply to. Selecting programs from BOTH application cycles will result in two applications and an additional application processing fee. Note: Fees paid on duplicate applications are non-refundable. Programs starting in: September 2017 January 2018 May 2018

My Applications –Program Choices Record your Account Number Click the Add a Program button to get started. You may apply to a maximum of FIVE program choices with no more than THREE at any one college. You cannot create additional accounts to apply to more programs. Record your Application Number Received Date – the date your application fee payment is received and processed

– Program Search Results Program Choices – Program Search Results Make sure you select the correct Program Delivery, Start Date and Campus. Click the Add button to add a program to your application.

Secure Online Payment Choose a payment method: Credit card (including Visa Debit) Interac Online Enter your credit card details exactly as they appear on the card. Card Number Numbers only, no spaces or hyphens Expiry Date Enter the date using the format MM/YY Card Security Code Visa / Mastercard – 3-digit code on the back of the card; American Express – 4-digit code on the front of the card, above the card number Click Process Transaction or Proceed to Online Banking to complete your payment.

Payment Summary Review your fees. Click Process Payment to pay your application processing fee online.

Credit Card and online banking are the fastest.

Additional Requirements Ensure you complete all requirements: Audition Portfolio Test Interview English Proficiency

Grades Schools see ALL your grades from grade 11 on Transmission dates – check accuracy Early March – based on JANUARY UPDATE Early May – based on March Report Card July – based on June Report Card (Diploma granted? 40 hours? EQAO?) Error? Pick up the correction form in the guidance office All course information transmitted from grade 11 up!! Grade 11 results will be on-line and what you are enrolled in this year. You must go back into your application each time the grades are submitted and verify that they are correct. Only I can change a academic information. There is a form available in the guidance office to notify us of an error - you need to fill it in and return it to Mrs. Hubbard, the guidance secretary. One week after you hand in the form, you can go back onto your application to view the change.

View and Confirm Offers Click View Offers to see your offers of admission. Note: Offers can only be viewed after they are posted by the colleges. CHANGING AN ACCEPTED OFFER If, after accepting an offer, you change your mind or receive another that you prefer, you may accept the new offer (before the expiry date). The new acceptance will cancel your previous one. Click Confirm Offer to accept an offer of admission. A confirmation email will be sent to your email address. You may accept only ONE offer at a time and you may accept only ONE offer in a 24-hour period.

Need Assistance? If you have an IEP or need support services they are available at all Ontario Colleges, but it is your responsibility to find out about them.
