Are available in the guidance office Includes important information about the individual colleges View books are available in the guidance office as well as on the individual college web sites. We have Many view books from local colleges like Humber, Seneca, George brown and Sheridan. They include important information regarding school location, population, required courses and student resources. 6

7 Before you Apply College visits
All schools host open houses for potential students Schools also offer tours for potential students The "feel" of a college is an important part of your decision Visting a college is the best way to make sure that you want to go there. You and your families are investing a lot of money. Take it for a test drive. Colleges have open houses but students can visit any time. To book a tour call ahead and set up a tour. 7

8 Before you Apply If you are applying to a joint collaborative program with a University please visit: pdf The Joint collaborative chart will outline if you need to apply on OUAC or Ontario Colleges.ca Some students may have to apply on both sites which means they will have to pay the application fee twice.

9 Important Dates February 1, 2016: Applications received and paid for on or before will be given equal consideration May 1, 2016: Applicants must accept an offer of admission by this date June 15, 2016: First date that colleges may require payment of tuition fees. The feb 1 dateline for college applications is a soft deadline. Meaning that applications for highly competitive programs is feb 1. If you do not get your application completed my feb 1 you may still be considered, however, your application will not be looked at until the rest of the applications that were received by feb 1 are reviewed. 9

10 How much does it cost? Application fee of $95 is required for all applications This includes 5 college program choices Payment can be made online using VISA, MasterCard, American Express or by online banking. Payment will also be accepted by mail using a certified cheque or credit card payment by phone. Costs $95 for 5 program choices Payable my VISA, MasterCard, american express, online banking. You may also call in a credit card over the phone. 10

New Users: If you have never applied through ontariocolleges.ca before, click the “Create an Account” button Home page for Create an account when you are entering for the first time Returning to your application: If you have an existing account, click “Log In”

12 Complete required fields
Create an Account Complete required fields There is no PIN Number for Ontario Colleges. Students create their own Password Password ‘rules’ Passwords that DO NOT meet these requirements will not allow you to login.

13 Select a question from the pull-down list, or create your own
Agree to Terms and Conditions or you will be logged out of application If you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions you will be logged out of the college application.

14 Activate Your Account ! You cannot log in to your account without first activating it Click the link to activate your account. Click the link to activate your account. An activation is also sent to the on file. You only need to activate your account using one method (screen or ).

15 Use the drop down menus to complete all fields.
High School Education Use the drop down menus to complete all fields. Make sure you read all of the High Schools Carefully. Choose Applewood Heights Secondary School. NOT Applewood Heights Summer Schools or Applewood Heights Night School or Applewood School. Ontario high school students: use the ‘Find School’ drop down to add your high school.

16 Important for current students
All Applicants – enter the date you began high school Graduates / Former Students – Enter the date you completed/ left high school Important for current students ! Current Students – Click the radio button To allow us to match your grades to your application, your OEN, student number and name (as it appears on your school record) must be accurate. Click ‘Save’ when done. Your OEN Number is found at the top of your most recent report card or student card. CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY Your high school will automatically forward your grades to ontariocolleges.ca.

17 Select Programs Click the button with the start date you wish to apply to. Programs with start dates in: • September 2016 • January 2017 • May 2017 Selecting programs from BOTH application cycles will result in two applications and an additional application processing fee. ! Fees paid on duplicate applications are non-refundable.

18 Remember you will receive 5 program choices but only 3 per college
Record your Account Number and Application Number. Received Date – is the date your application processing fee payment is received and processed. Remember you will receive 5 program choices but only 3 per college You may apply to a maximum of FIVE program choices with no more than THREE at any one college. List your programs in order of preference. You cannot create additional applications to apply to more programs. (sorry!)

20 Click ‘Process Payment’ to pay your application processing fee.

21 Secure Online Credit Card Payment
Enter your credit card details. Cardholder Name – must appear exactly as on credit card. Credit Card Number – Numbers only. No spaces or hyphens. Expiry Date – Select the dates using the drop down menu. Click ‘Process Transaction’ to complete your payment.

22 What's Next Be sure to check your email often
For Current High School Students your marks will be automatically downloaded you do not need to request transcripts. Respond to all inquires from the colleges to which you applied If you need help- please make an appointment with your counsellor. Good luck! 22
