Presentation transcript:

Acts 21:1-3 1 When we had parted from them and had set sail, we ran a straight course to Cos and the next day to Rhodes and from there to Patara; 2 and having found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. 3 When we came in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left, we kept sailing to Syria and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload its cargo.

Acts 21:4-6 4 After looking up the disciples, we stayed there seven days; and they kept telling Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem. 5 When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. 6 Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.

How important is FAITH? We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) By faith we live for God (Romans 1:17) By faith we receive righteousness; that which makes us right with God (Romans 4:13) By faith we are justified; declared to be right with God by faith (Romans 5:1) By faith we have access to God’s grace (Romans 5:2) By faith we stand firm in what we believe (2 Corinthians 1:24) By faith we receive the promise of the Spirit (Galatians 3:14) By faith we further God’s work (1 Timothy 1:4) By faith we await the return of Christ (Galatians 5:5)

What is FAITH? According to Webster’s Dictionary: faith is “an unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence.” According to Hebrews 11:1 faith is described this way: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

ROMANS 6:4-5 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,

At least two aspects of FAITH? Intellectual assent – acknowledging something as being true. Implicit trust – relying and living in light of the fact of something that is true.

JAMES 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

The first fruit of faith is repentance from sin Matthew 4:17 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The first fruit of faith is repentance from sin

PHILIPPIANS 1:29 For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe [have faith] in Him, but also to suffer for His sake…

ROMANS 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

What is “fearless” FAITH? Fearless faith is simply living your life as a visible, practical and continual witness of Jesus Christ.

Fearless FAITH Is to be seen in our relationships with believers (1-4a) With a deep affection for believers. With a deep aspiration for the progress of the gospel. With a deep affinity for believers.

Fearless FAITH Is to be seen in our responses to others (4a-6) Fearless faith does not live to please people. 4 After looking up the disciples, we stayed there seven days; and they kept telling Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem. 5 When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. 6 Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.

ACTS 19:21 Now after these things were finished, Paul purposed in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem after he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, saying, "After I have been there, I must also see Rome."

ACTS 20:16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.

ACTS 20:22-23 22 And now, behold, bound by the Spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.

ACTS 9:15-16 15 Go, for he [Paul] is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; 16 for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake.

Fearless FAITH Is to be seen in our responses to others (4a-6) Fearless faith does not live to please people. 5 When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. 6 Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.

Fearless FAITH Is to be seen in our responses to others (4a-6) Fearless faith lives by prayer [to God] 5 When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another

1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

EPHESIANS 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

1 CORINTHIANS 2:2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

1 THESSALONIANS 2:1-3 1 For you yourselves know, brethren, that our coming to you was not in vain, 2 but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition. 3 For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit;

1 THESSALONIANS 2:4-6 4 but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts. 5 For we never came with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed — God is witness — 6 nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we might have asserted our authority.

JOHN 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.
