Welcome to 2nd Grade BTSN 2017 Mrs. Boyer

My Background California State University Hayward (B.S. in Kinesiology and Dance), University of Phoenix (M.A. in Education and California Teaching Credential) 14th year teaching I have taught in an all Aspergers high school, P.E. pre-k through 8th, and grades 5,6,3, and now this is my 4th year in 2nd grade.

Teacher’s Philosophy Every child can learn! I want to work with you to create a team that make sure your child is successful. I use hands on activities and cooperative groupings. I believe in having a safe environment for all students.

About Mrs. Boyer I have two boys, Liam and Caelan. Liam just started Kindergarten in Livermore this Monday and Caelan just turned 2 at the beginning of the month. I’m an avid runner and you might see me most days afterschool running around the neighborhood. I have run in one full marathon and multiple half marathons, 10ks and 5ks. I love Disneyland. I do a lot of my runs in Disneyland.

Homework Policy Weekly Homework (life skills) will go home every Friday in their Friday Folder and will be due back Friday. Recommended: Reading   Math Booklet (Current Skills)

OLP’s Oral Language Projects 4 times during the year Presentation on a Topic of their choice *Please see schedule/direction sheet on your child’s desk

Classroom Management As a class we created a “social contract” that we will follow throughout the year. We have also been practicing using an “I message” when someone does something that bothers us or hurts our feelings. Class Dojo! :) We will be using class dojo for daily feedback.   Please discuss with your child about their daily behavior.

School Rules We will follow directions with a positive attitude! We have 4 school wide rules, which will also be the rules for room G2. We will follow directions with a positive attitude! We will listen while others are speaking! We will keep our hands, feet and objects to ourselves! We will use good manners and appropriate language! Consequences: Verbal Warning, Loss of minutes of recess, reflection sheet, phone call home, conversation with administration or campus supervisor. (depending on need)

Classroom Support This year we will be spending a lot of time doing STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities. I spent part of my summer collecting supplies and finding lesson plans to incorporate STEM in our classroom. If you would ever like to donate supplies for our projects, I keep an updated wish list on Amazon for supplies, as well as other needs for our classroom. I will also post supply needs on the door. Donations are always appreciated! https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/13TXGOI6KGSBX/ref=cm_wl_huc_title

Looking forward to a wonderful year!
