Le 14 Juliet

Bastille Day originated after the Storming of the Bastille on July 14 th, 1789, by revolutionaries in the French Revolution. This was important because the Bastille prison symbolized the terror and oppression that the French peasants endured under the nobility.

Bastille Day today is celebrated throughout France with parades and airshows. The parade in Paris begins at the Champs Elysees, ending at midday. La Marseillaise is played in the beginning. At eleven at night fireworks are launched from the Eiffel Tower. Many businesses that are not tourist oriented are closed, save for bakeries, airports, and somewhat public transport.

Smaller towns will have smaller parades.

Crêpes et café au lait….

Motto, especially during this day.
