Keeping Myself Safe

The Town P6 Scenario One Aim – To develop personal safety skills   Aim – To develop personal safety skills To deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I understand why it is important to have personal safety boundaries. I can tell the difference between safe and unsafe secrets. I am able to choose strategies which will prevent me getting into dangerous situations.  

The Skatepark P6 Scenario Two Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I can recognise the physical signs of being in a frightening or dangerous situation. I understand the importance of telling a trusted adult (e.g. a parent) about a problem I have. I am able to use personal safety strategies to get help when I need to  

The Swimming Pool P6 Scenario Three Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I have an understanding of what sexual assault is. I understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touches and what personal space is. I am able to use language and body language to communicate how to say “Yes” and how to say “No”.  

My House P6 Scenario Four Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I understand that no one has the right to physically assault another person. Everyone has the right to be safe. I am able to keep trying until I get the help that I need. I can identify personal safety strategies which will help me get help when I need it.

Scenario Five The Chat Room P6 Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I understand some of the risks of using the Internet and of chat rooms in particular I can recognise times when people try to pressure me into taking risks which may place me in danger. I am able to identify personal safety strategies to help me get out of dangerous situations.

The Bus P7 io Seven Scenario Six Aim – to develop personal safety skills to be used in dangerous situations Learning outcomes I understand what is meant by personal space. I am able to use a resistance phrase assertively. I can use personal strategies to deal with inappropriate touch by someone I do not know.  

The Park P7 Scenario Seven Aim – To develop personal safety skills to be used in dangerous situations. Learning Outcomes I understand the risks of using drugs, in particular alcohol. I understand what peer pressure is and how it affects my decision making. I can identify the point in a situation when risking for fun becomes dangerous. 

Scenario Eight    The Youth Club P7  Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I understand the importance of telling a trusted adult where I’m going, who I’m with and when I will be back. I can use personal safety strategies to avoid risky situations. I am able to use personal safety strategies to stop unwelcome behaviour.

The School Concert P7 Scenario Nine   Aim – to use the correct personal safety strategies to deal with a difficult situation. Learning Outcomes I understand the difference between safe and unsafe secrets. I am able to share problems or unsafe secrets with a trusted adult. I am able to identify personal safety strategies to deal with inappropriate touch by someone I know

Scenario Ten Aim – To develop personal safety skills to     The Woods P7 Aim – To develop personal safety skills to deal with difficult situations. Learning Outcomes I understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touch. I can use personal safety strategies to get help with an ongoing problem. I am able to keep trying to get the help I need when others do not believe me.

Domestic Abuse Awareness Programme Working with Partners in the community – Children First and Women’s Aid All schools in Midlothian participating 3 hour sessions commencing at the end of May: 1. Positive Gender Roles 2. Exploring Abuse 3. How to be Safe and Seek Help Links to KMS work in class
