Comparison with other Lotteries National Lottery Why do people enter – money from a different pocket!! 50:50 – 50% prizes + 50% to organisers.

Legal Requirements Laws: Gambling Act 2007, Lotteries & Amusement Act 1976 Requirement for Promoter Responsibility of Promoter Registration with Local Council – Licensing Office Normally £40 for first year then £20 renewal annually. Returns on Annual Basis showing income and expenditure – there is usually a specific form for this Requirement for details on any related printed material

The Way it Works Concept – people take out stakes in a monthly draw Half the income goes in prizes – half retained by organisation Of the half retained, 60% as first prize 4 x 10% as Runners Up Prize Produce simple informative leaflet with standing order forms Distribute far and wide

The way it Works Joining members submit form to Promoter Standing order preferable for adminstration Usually £1 stakes with any number of stakes permissible eg £5 a month Must join for at least 12 months Promoter acknowledges and allocates a membership number(s) Promoter submits standing order to members bank Promoter creates spread sheet for all data Members assured data will not be redistributed in any way

The Way it Works Membership numbers noted on counters, paper or ping pong balls and 5 numbers drawn monthly Each month – total number of stakes recorded and % prizes allocated Cheques for winners duly distributed Winners notified within 10 days of draw Winning numbers stated on website and noticeboards

Finances As you need to be sure people are paid up – need to check account monthly to know correct amount for prizes Recommend a separate bank account for ease of access to data.
