Lessons from a Sabbath Rest: What Does Your Tree Look Like? Psalm 1:1-3

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. (NKJV)

Psalm 1:1-3 NLT Psalm 1:1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. Psalm 1:2 But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. Psalm 1:3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Tree of Rejection Turf – bad nutrients i.e. traumas before birth, at birth, childhood, teenager years, lack of love, word curses, rejections, name calling, wrong thoughts, wrong things seen Trunk – the heart of the “tree” (person), (belief area of the tree) becomes sick and never rises to full potential till Jesus sets you free.

Tree of Rejection Top – without freedom, the tree of rejection produces Rebellion and aggressive behavior, Fear of rejection by others, Rejection of your self.

Tree of Acceptance Turf – translated (Col 1:13)into new good soil (Mark 4) nourished by the rivers of living water (Ps 1) providing good Holy Spirit filled nutrients into your heart Trunk – growth in the heart (belief area) of the “tree” is strong and healthy Top – produces 1 st the Holy fruit of the Holy Spirit, 2 nd the fruit of Acceptance and 3 rd the fruit knowing you Belong.

Time to Put Down Roots into Good Soil Jesus wants to give you a new mindset! Genuinely receive Christ as your Savior. Genuinely make Him Lord of your life. Repent and confess ways that you have allowed bad soil to come around your roots system and produce bad fruit. Trim away bad roots and bad soil. Now be open to the fresh infilling water of the Holy Spirit to bring healthy roots and trunk and fruit into your “life and tree”.
