To be linked with WP CTF3-001 Consolidation & Upgrades Shall not be a ‘auditing activity’ of CTF3, rather a participation/coordination looking at CLIC needs vs. CTF3 potential and present limitations Performance studies Study the impact of SR and CSR on the beam Determine level of SR and CSR on the beam line components Improve design to mitigate SR and CSR effects report Evaluation of CTF3 performanceExperiments, reports SR : need collaboration with VAC team for its clean absorption – ~ 1kW of power on every dipole in CR – Thermal stress critical – Can degrade the vacuum much beyond the 1nT specification – Much work ahead CSR : see Caterina’s talk Linked collective effects : ion instabilities, resistive wall instablilities, geometrical wakes RF deflectors is a critical issue CLIC Drive Beam WP, BJ, LCWS11 4

Resources Need collaborations. Activities may be reshaped in order to build nice coherent blocks of activity.
