When Robert Falcon Scott tried to get to the south pole him and Amundsen's team were racing to the south pole and Amundsen won because his team wore heavy down parkas while Scott's team wore wool and it got wet and it was hard to dry, and because of that Scott's team died on their way back to their ship. Richard E Byrd was another famous Antarctic explorer. He was born in 1868 and he died in 1957.Richard E Byrd was the first American person to accomplish a flight over Antarctica when he accomplished that he worked as a US naval officer. There is a place in Antarctica that is named after his wife called “Marie Byrd Land”.

The most famous Antarctic explorer is most likely to be Sir Earnest Shackleton who was born on February and he died on January 25, 1922, on south Georgia island. the first time he went to Antarctica in he went with the explorer Robert Falcon Scott and when he went almost nobody had been there before. he also made another trip in 1907 and that lasted to ● 1874: Shackleton was born at Kilkea House, County Kildare, on February 17, ● 1908: In January 1st, Shackleton sailed for Antarctica. ● He died of a heart attack in 1922, at the age of 48, then he was buried at South Georgia.

Sir Earnest Shackleton also made a third trip to Antarctica when he made this trip his ship was called the Endurance and when it got stuck in the ice in 1915 and Shackleton had to abandon his ship. The Endurance

Finally he himself organized three teams to go into three different rowboats and to save his crew Shackleton rowed 800 miles himself to south Georgia island and he got fed and was helped to rescue his crew. It affects cultures because then some know more, some less. It may cause them to fight and have a war over information, because they have less of the knowledge, and they need to know more for their culture/country to improve. Just like Lewis and Clark going to the west part of the United States.

Why do humans explore Antarctica?

Humans explore Antarctica because they want to find new species of animals, there are glaciers, and a lot of mountains, humans can examine the rocks and try to find out how old the earth is, and because humans are curious of what they will find in Antarctica. Just like him!
