Spelling and pronunciation. Here you could also listen to the pronunciation of the word. The same is explained in brackets (sulkumerkit). The apostrophy (’) marks the syllable (tavu) which gets the most stress.

Word class: this word is an adjective. This means that it is a descriptive word.

The meaning of the word is explained here. It has two slightly different meanings. Sometimes synonyms (words that mean the same) are given, too.

The origin: Innocuous comes from Latin, it has meant ’not harmful’. Sometimes the history of the word is explained even more specifically than this.

Other words built from innocuous – these are an adverb and a noun
