Spiraling out of control On pace for 120+ deaths in 2015! (2014: 87 deaths) 52 confirmed deaths so far in are due to heroin (40%) 28 overdoses are pending testing 80 deaths this year, counting suspected deaths

Westmoreland County Statistics

Westmoreland County Trends from 2011 thru 2014 Women’s deaths have increased from 19 to 43. More than doubled! Men’s deaths have gone down by 1, from 45 to 44 Heroin has increased, causing only 14% of deaths in 2011; in 2014 it was 41% Most people who have died are over the age of % last year.

22 deaths(2002) to 87 deaths(2014) 295% increase of deaths in 12 years 64% of deaths in 2013 were over the age of % in % were years of age. Most deaths are from prescription drugs (59% in 2014) but heroin on increase (9 in 2011 to 36 in 2014

Root Cause Analysis 71% of deaths occurred at victim’s residence 9 families reported previous overdoses 68% male, 32% female 97% white, 2% Black 65% had legal charges; 58% were incarcerated at County prison; 21% incarcerated 4X or more

Fentanyl and/or Acetyl Fentanyl Related Deaths Prescribed for chronic pain and terminal patients – 4 Total Fentanyl related deaths – 12 Total Fentanyl related deaths as of August has seen an influx of stamp bags with combinations of heroin and fentanyl and/or acetyl fentanyl. Fentanyl is approximately 80 times more potent than heroin and morphine. Acetyl Fentanyl is approximately 60 times more potent than heroin and morphine.
