Of those, roughly 25% were using heroin at the time of admission (due to unavailability of continuing to be able to obtain prescriptions and heroin being cheaper and more available.)

Centra-Community Action Committee on Opioid Abuse in Pregnancy
Centra reports a 63% increase from 2014 to 2015 in NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) admissions to the neonatal unit.
60% of women treated in Horizon’s SAPT program have an Opioid Use Disorder (Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment), this has doubled in the past 2 years.
Lynchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center has treated 21 pregnant patients in the past year: 67% no longer use, 6 in treatment now, 2 have delivered and are still in treatment, 3 voluntarily detoxed out during their treatment.
