What it is Why it’s useful How to read it How to use it at JVMC

 The Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature is a reference guide to recently published articles in periodical magazines and scholarly journals, organized by article subject periodicalmagazinesjournals  It is an index for the entire year  This format has since been complemented with an online version which is marketed to libraries.

Readers’ Guide to periodical literature is useful:  For finding information on current events.  Current events generally can not be found in books.  For finding up-to-date information about people.

 There are two types of entries in the Readers’ Guide to periodical literature: subject entries and name entries.

 A name entry may have articles written by the person and/or articles written about the person.

 A subject entry may have a see reference and/or a see also reference. If you find one or both of these, it means that you can look up those terms in the same book you’re using and find additional information.
