Oboe By: Maddie Grace

What period of music was the oboe invented? It was invented in the 1700s. Today we call that the classical period of music.

What genres of music is prevalent with the oboe? i.e Jazz, Rock, Classic etc Jazz and classic sound really good with the oboe.

What instrument would sound good with the oboe? The violin and english horn sound really good with the oboe.

Why is the oboe important to music history? Was it used for any special purpose? It was not used for any special but, it is used to tune an orchestra because it was always in-tune. It was also thought by the Greeks that it was very important in theater.

What family does the oboe come from? The oboe belongs to the woodwind section of instruments.

What country does the oboe come from? My instrument is originally from Egypt.

How is the oboe played? You blow into a mouth piece buzzing your lips over the wooden reed and move your fingers over the finger holes. The valves and pads close different chambers as the air passes through the double reed, producing a bright tone.

How has the oboe changed since it was invented? The oboe has not changed at all except from what material it is made from.
