4 REVIEW FROM YESTERDAY How do we classify instruments? We classify instruments based on how sound is produced. What are the 6 classifications we discussed yesterday? Aerophones, Membranophones, Corpophones, Idiophones, Electrophones, Chordophones Which one requires air to produce sound? Aerophone

5 AEROPHONES Aerophones produce sound by blowing air across a reed, tone hole, or into a mouthpiece that is connected to a tube. Aerophones also manipulate pitch by pressing down valves, keys, or moving a slide when blowing air through the tube. Aerophones can be split into two families based on: What they are made of How they manipulate pitch How they initiate sound
