Introduction to the workshop ILO, 2013

Justification Cambodia is implementing its SS Law (prakas on social health insurance) Indonesia is developing the regulations for the implementation of SJSN and BPJS laws Lao PDR & Myanmar have passed a new social security law and are now embarking in the development of the regulations Viet Nam is developing the employment law (with provisions on unemployment protection) and the social insurance law

Objectives Increase knowledge & understanding of social security standards Improve capacity to apply the standards when designing laws, regulations Share country experiences, challenges in developing laws and regulations

Training methodology ILO expertise… …challenged by the voices from social security practitioners Theory (PPT presentations)… …and applied learning methods: – Debates – Assessment matrix exercise – Financing exercises

Outcomes A generic course to be replicated (“cascade”) A social security good practices guide part of ILO’s global effort to develop SS guides A core element of ILO’s support in the design/implementation/reform of Social Security Laws & extension of social security
