Line vs. Value

No outlines in value drawings! Only shading!

Normally….dark mark on a light ground (paper). Draw in the shadows/darks

Now experiment with drawing in the LIGHTs! White mark on dark ground

This week.. Double Trouble Leaf Drawings

1 composition… 2 drawings 1 black charcoal drawing on white paper- draw in shadows 1 white charcoal drawing on black paper- draw in lights

Game plan 1.Go out side to get a few leaves, arrange in interesting composition on table. 2.Few quick thumbnail sketches to plan amazing composition 3.Black Charcoal on White Paper- lightly sketch contours in pencil then shade shade shade with black charcoal 4.White Charcoal on Black Paper- lightly sketch contours in pencil then highlight, lighten with white charcoal Duh… save your leaves for the rest of the week. We be drawing directly from Life. So take good care of them.
