Starkmann & Gaertner Introduction Topic Comparison between the different degree programmes in informatics Research question Is there a significant relation between the individual satisfaction and their degree programme? Hypotheses Diplomas are most satistfied Masters are more satisfied than Bachelors
Starkmann & Gaertner The survey Group of participants Informatic-Students at the Freie Universität Berlin invited via Questionnaire Online (phpESP) Nine questions in four different categories Time: effort vs. freetime Content: difficulty, interest and relation theory/practice Structure: self-fulfilment and influence Job: preparation and chances Five possible answers per question Running two weeks
Starkmann & Gaertner Results and interpretation Answers in total: 227 Diplomas: 51 Bachelors: 88 Masters: 74 Teachers: 14 Simularity between bachelors/teachers and masters/diplomas Diplomas/masters are more satisfied than bachelors/teachers
Starkmann & Gaertner Validity Due to the different organisation in other universities, the study can hardly be generalized We always tried to find a formulation for our questions that would not bias the participants Bachelors are at a different state of their studies, (mostly) less experienced than diplomas and masters The assumed difference between the degrees is not significant
Starkmann & Gaertner Thank you!
