Also in this case no differences in the subjects taught in classes Gives a general view on ( history , geography , maths , arts, grammar, foreing languages, techincal studies ) Prepares the field for the choice to be made after

5 Secondary School Here a choice must be done, between:
High schools vs Professional and techincal institutes High school : It prepares more for a future in the university, there are high school of : science, languages,humanistic studies,art,education. Professional and techincal institutes: More suitable if the person want to find a job right after the school that doesn’t require a high level of education

6 Secondary School Age ( 14 – 18 ) Five years
It is obligatory until the pupil is 16 then is optional. The age limit for obligatory school was 14 just few years ago. At the end of the fifth year there is an official exam, if passed the person get the “Diploma” a document that allows to enroll into university..

7 University System Degree courses Credit Earned Years
1° cycle ( Laurea degree course) 2° cycle: 2° degree course ( laurea specialistica ) or 1st level University Master degree course

8 University System Degree courses Credit Earned Years 3° cycle
Research Doctorate programme N/A 2nd level University Master degree course 2nd specialization school
