The Major River Systems of Ancient India The two major river systems of ancient India are the Indus and Ganges river valleys. The Indus river valley was located in modern day pakistan. The Ganges river valley is located in modern day Bangladesh. Two civilizations were started in the area of the Indus and Ganges River valleys.
