1.Serve as recruitment and retention tools 2.Provide opportunities for data analysis 3.Align with transfer credit evaluations, articulation agreements, and transferability of credits 4.Provide a data element regarding the number of active-duty military personnel on campus 5.Identify trends in academic degrees of interest to military students 6.Document enrollment patterns by installation/location and MOS/rating Why Are Student Agreements Important to Academic Institutions?

1.Serve as Documented Degree Plan required for servicemembers to receive military Tuition Assistance 2.Provide data to document Tuition Assistance cost-savings as a result of accepted credit for prior learning, military training and experience, testing 3.Identify trends in enrollment by degree area/network 4.Document enrollment patterns by college, installation/location, and MOS/rating 5.Serve as a degree counseling tool 6.Minimize servicemembers’ and counselors’ questions regarding appropriate coursework and progress in degree completion Why Are Student Agreements Important to the Services?

1.Meet contract deliverables as defined by the Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy 2.Provide an indicator of the health of various SOC Degree Networks and popularity of degree offerings by college, leading to better use of resources 3.Supply data about trends in military voluntary education among DNS colleges 4.Identifies programs for future network and guaranteed course transferability development 5.Document amount of credit awarded by participating colleges for various forms of non-traditional credit for prior learning Why Are Student Agreements Important for SOC?

Student: After completing courses at another college, have an official transcript sent to your home college. Student Agreement remains in force for the length of time established by the home college. Breaks in attendance of two years or less will not invalidate the Student Agreement; attendance will not be exclusively defined by taking courses from the home college.
