Key Question: What family does the Holy Spirit unite me in?

1. What is my new family called? a. Ephesians 5:25-27* This family is holy because Jesus' blood washes away our sins. So we are saints in God's sight. Saints: Holy people, which are all believers in Jesus because Jesus' holiness covers them. b. Ephesians 2:19, 20* This family is Christian because it's built on Jesus Christ

1. What is my new family called? c. Romans 12:15 This is a communion or church because the Holy Spirit calls us together into one spiritual body Communion: A coming together and having something in common The Holy Spirit unites me to the family called, the holy Christian Church, which is the Communion of Saints

Holy Christian Church: All believers in Jesus everywhere Communion of saints: Same as the Holy Christian Church

2. How does the Holy Spirit unite me to this family and keep us together? a. Ephesians 5:25, 26* I was born into the Holy Christian Church through Baptism b. John 10:16* Jesus speaks to us in his Word The Holy Spirit calls and keeps me in the holy Christian Church through the Gospel in Word and Sacraments (Means of Grace)

3. Where is this family, the Holy Christian Church, found? a. 1 Corinthians 1:2 Since the Holy Christian Church is made up of all believers in Jesus everywhere, it is found everywhere believers are. b. Luke 17:20,21* Since only God can see faith in the heart, only he fully knows who the members of the Holy Christian Church are. It's invisible to us.

3. Where is this family, the Holy Christian Church, found? c. Mathew 28:19, 20* Since the Holy Spirit works through the Gospel, we will find the Holy Christian Church wherever the Gospel is taught and the Sacraments are used Although the Holy Christian Church is invisible, we find it wherever the Gospel in Word and Sacraments is used

Invisible Church: Same as the Holy Christian Church and the Communion of Saints
