IBERDROLA IBERDROLA: Hidroeléctrica Española Fusion - Iberduero (1991) It is one of the largest industrial corporations in Europe by market capitalization, sales, and profits Global Services Operator through profitable growth strategy, and value creation for customers, and investors Key elements of this strategy: international expansion, efficiency improving, and product diversification Iberdrola Energía México
Corporate News IBERDROLA reaches an integration agreement with SCOTTISHPOWER to create an European leader of enterprise value of nearly 64,000 Million €, where the new group has 36,600 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, of which more than 6,000 MW are wind power, and adds 21.4 million electric delivery points IBERDROLA won the bid of CFE for the refurbishing, and modernization of its Laguna Verde Nuclear Central in the state of Veracruz. Recently Iberdrola started the operation of 80 MW of Wind Power at La Ventosa in Oaxaca, Mexico under the Self-Supply modality Iberdrola Energía México

Site Configuration DCS & OTHERS GENERATION PLANT Local PI Server Various Interfaces Local PI Server ACE Server Operation (Plants) Iberdrola Energía México
Local PI Server Functions Reads, and stores between 10,000 & 20,000 tags, which change in value at a frequency of up to one second. This is done in the PI of each plant, through various interfaces Provides users access to the necessary information to generate daily reports Provides information to users for efficiency analysis of turbines, and in general to see the performance of the plant in real-time The users of the plants (like plant operators) have access to information via ProcessBook & DataLink, and VBA for Excel, through specialized templates Iberdrola Energía México
ACE Server Functions Stores the information in 5m frequency tags Verifies that the information does not contain errors, and notifies if so (through e-mails) Runs the critical process of Mathematical Model The information processed is of critical mission since it is used to bill our primary customer: “Comisión Federal de Electricidad” Problems with ACE running on Local PI server Iberdrola Energía México
Problems Running ACE on Local Server Local PI Server DCS & OTHERS Various Interfaces The local PI server is reading in real time 15,000 tag changing every second When running the Mathematical Model (MM), ACE is reading around 60 of those tags For every tag in the MM, ACE would make calculations (averages, additions, conditionals, etc) and stores info for every 5m Using the 5minute data generated, a guaranteed efficiency is calculated and used to for the main invoce to CFE: fuel With this work load, the server stopped the ACE service (the MM) and calculations stopped suddenly. The server continued collecting data from the DCS Iberdrola Energía México
Using PI in plants: Flow Measurement Error was corrected to allow for precise measure. Oscillation was detected in gas temperature measurement, which caused an incorrect compensated flow calculation 1% deviation in the gas measurement from this plant represents over 300 KUSD/month when the gas price is around 6.50 USD/MMBTU Iberdrola Energía México
Access to critical information with just one click Iberdrola Energía México
PI Functions with VBA for Applications (Add-In) and Excel Import information efficiently from PI, and process it to generate result data (usually results in values for every 5 minutes) Implement Procedures to data correction Send verified data, and/or corrected to a relational database This is done for the mathematical models, and to track the gas consumption Iberdrola Energía México
VBA (Add-In) and the Mathematical Model Data download by periods of time Data correction Signal Losses, and inaccurate measurement Graphical view of input and output tags of the Math Model This is done using OSISOFT PI SDK Iberdrola Energía México
Flow of Information in case of Data Correction When there is incorrect data within PI (because of problems in any signal) for the mathematical model, a data correction procedure is executed We read the data and correct it as per the agreement made with CFE and then write the correct data to a relational database The mathematical model is run again from the database The guaranteed efficiency is corrected * We cannot change the values stored in the PI server, because of the agreement with CFE. Central PI Functions Centralizes general access information on a single PI server, through interfaces “PI to PI” In this way, prevents the local servers suffering of work overload Redundancy of critical information It has a very focused approach to management Stores all information of mathematical models of CFE, and User Partners Allows addition and/or averaging the information of various plants to register information as “Total Generation of Iberdrola in Mexico” and real-time visualization Serves like a gateway to other administrative systems Iberdrola Energía México
