Be a Better Reader!

 SEE the events, characters and setting to help you understand what’s happening. Pay attention to the images that form in your mind as you read.

 Try to guess what will happen next, and how the story might end. Then read to see how accurate your guesses were.

 Connect personally with what you are reading. Think of similarities between descriptions in the story and what you have personally experienced heard about and read about. 

 Learn to form active questions about plot, character and theme AS YOU READ. Search for reasons behind events and characters’ feelings so you can feel closer to what you are reading.

 Stop occasionally to review what you understand, and expect to have your understanding change and develop as you read on. Reread to help you clarify

 Form opinions about what you read, both while you are reading and after you have finished. Develop your own ideas about characters and events.
