Warm-UP 1.Name the Pink Figure! 2.Is Line FLO Colinear? 3.IS GEB CoPlaner? 4.IS AB a Line? 5.Where do the two Planes Intersect?

Objective To Find and Compare lengths of segments

What is a line segment and how do you measure it? Postulate 1-5 Coordinate Points– Every point on a line can be paired with a real number. These numbers are called COORDINATE POINTS!!!

Measuring Segment Lengths Equation----l a-b l From AC-- A = -5 C = +1 l a-c l = l -5 – 1 l = l -6 l = 6

Postulate 1-6 If three (3) points A, B, and C are Collinear and B is BETWEEN A and C then AC = AB + BC Total = Parts PR = 20 PQ = 6 QR = 14

EX: Calculate X

!!!If two segments have the same length then the segments are CONGRUENT Midpoints---A midpoint of a segment is a point that divides the segment into two congruent parts. If a point, line, ray or any other segment intersects a segment at the midpoint is said to BISECT the Segment….Or cuts it into two equal parts…
