How Clearwire use technology based on WiMax to compete with other wireless competitors. Will WiMax defeat the other WAN wireless technologies? Which technology will better serve their needs, WiMax or LTE?

What Is Wireless  In telecommunications, wireless communication may be used to transfer information over short distances (a few meters as in television remote control) or long distances (thousands or millions of kilometres for radio communications). The term is often shortened to "wireless". It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable two-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. Other examples of wireless technology include GPS units, garage door openers and or garage doors, wireless computer mice, keyboards and headsets, satellite television and cordless telephones.  Bluetooth is another common wireless protocol. It is designed for transmitting data over short distance, replacing cables.

Technoogy that enables wireless connection  The IEEE protocol.(The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers).  As of 2009 the most popular is IEEE g, the speed of up to 54 Mbps.

 Wimax equipments are installed with Wimax Technology chip  The necessary equipments required for Wimax Technology consist of Wimax base stations(consists of indoor Wimax equipments and a wimax tower), Wimax receiver ( stand alone box or PCMCIA cards which is located in your computer or laptop), Wimax antenna (used to get better the signal strength of wimax user from base station), and Wimax backhaul( link system from the access point. It is used to connect system to the backbone) Evaluate each of the possible applications in your answer to question1. Select the three promising applications and justify your selection.

LTE (Long term evolution)  By 2011, it is estimated that 1.5 billion people will have broadband.  In addition, more than half of these will have mobile broadband.  LTE will deliver a highly compelling user experience with ultra-broadband speed.  LTE will potentially compete with wired broadband connection enable services such as mobile TV.

- LTE is the most commercially reliable in terms of mobility and coverage. - One of the biggest cost advantages.

Where will this end? On which of these technology would you be willing to invest $100 million? Why?  In terms of technology, WiMAX and LTE are very similar, with major differences occurring in transmission speed and the openness of each network.  Additionally, WiMAX is already commercially available and many ISPs worldwide are getting the feel of it, while LTE is still under construction. Thus, I would invest to LTE because this may offer LTE an opportunity to become a more sophisticated network and to provide proficiency in areas where WiMAX is lacking.
