2013 ACEP NATIONAL FACULTY TEACHING AWARD RECIPIENTS

Yashwant Chathampally, MD, MS Yashwant Chathampally is a consummate medical educator. He is devoted to trainees and is highly effective. He provides them with knowledge, but he also helps them learn to think about complex problems in an organized fashion.

Bret P. Nelson, MD, RDMS, FACEP Dr. Nelson is an impressive innovator who has made significant contributions to emergency medicine education at a number of levels from bedside teaching to curriculum design and implementation. He has thrived in national and international leadership roles and is a recognized mentor for faculty, residents and medical students.

Vicken Y. Totten, MD, MS, FACEP Dr. Totten loves to teach at the bedside. More than one resident or rotating student have commented that they had never before had one on one bedside teaching directly from an attending physician, who confirmed their findings and taught physical diagnosis skills with patients they had just seen.

Federico E. Vaca, MD, MPH His enthusiasm, skills, and boundless energy in teaching his fellow emergency physicians, residents and students, law enforcement and the public at large is unparalleled. He has and will continue to make substantial contributions to advance the science and practice of Emergency Medicine, and undoubtedly improves the health of the public.
