Gachon University has a strict grading policy. LESS than 25% of students can get an A LESS than 40% of students can get a B Everyone else must get a C or lower You must EARN a 60% to pass. If you don’t EARN it I won’t give it to you! Grading

Attendance: 10 Participation: 15 Homework: 10 5 Quizzes: 25 Writing Assignments: 10 2 Speaking Exams: 30 Class Breakdown

LATEABSENTEXCUSED ABSENCE Arrives after class starts Misses class and does not have a note Misses class due to Gachon event for your major Misses class due to illness XX Bring note from Gachon Bring doctor’s note (not 약 ) ~20m late: Lose 0.33% of Final Grade +20m late: Lose % of Final Grade Loses 1% of Final Grade More than 8 absences = fail No penalty Only 2 doctor’s notes will be accepted per semester No extra time for Quiz / Exams Get 0 on missed Quiz / You fail the class if you miss an exam No penalty

10% + 5% = 15% Participation 15% Score based on your behaviour in class Doing GZ Activities, completing and turning in the Participation Form

There are 15 days of Homework in a semester and it will be graded on completion only.  At the start of class, I will come around and check that you completed your Homework.  If you have done your HW you get √, if not X.  At the end of the semester, I total your score out of /15  I do not accept late HW / You must do the HW even if you are absent! Homework: 10%

 If you come to class late, after I have checked HW, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILTY to show me your HW. I won’t chase after you! Homework: 10%

 Each Quiz is 30 questions:  Listening (10Q)  Vocabulary & Social Language (12Q) (Unit Study Guide on class website)  Grammar (8Q) 5 Quizzes 25%

 There will be 2 Writing Assignments.  They will focus on writing a complete sentence to answer a question.  We will practice this skill in class before you are given the Writing Assignment. More information will be given. Writing Assignments 10%

Speaking Midterm:Speaking Final:15% You will have to work with at least one other person for both Exams! More information will be given as the time approaches. Speaking Exams 30%

Top Notch 3: Units 1-5  There must be NO WRITING in the book for Units 1-5.  MUST have CD-ROM  I will be checking to make sure there is nothing written in these units! Textbook

 You will choose a partner and be given a Group number  You and your partner will sit with one or two other Groups at a Table.  Most Groups are 2 people but some may be 3. Class Organization: Groups

 Both your Midterm and Final Exams will be Group projects (meaning you work with your partner for both!) Class Organization: Groups

NEXT CLASS :  The person you sit beside will be your partner for the WHOLE SEMESTER!  You will work with the people at your TABLE for the WHOLE SEMESTER!  The seat you sit in will be your seat for the WHOLE SEMESTER! CHOOSE WISELY & GET HERE EARLY! Class Organization: Groups
